Issue with upgrading old lifetime versions to version 15

I purchased the lifetime version in 2014, but I found that I cannot upgrade to version 15. How can I solve this problem?Or I can only upgrade to version 14? Thanks.

@helium

Thanks for using SpyShelter and supporting our work on this project. Your code is still fully functional and the Classic software is here Classic SpyShelter Apps – SpyShelter Help.

We’ve never disabled any codes sold by the original SpyShelter team and they are 100% still working for the Classic apps.

Hello,
however, it must be taken into consideration that Classic SpyShelter Apps don’t work / could not work on the most up to date Windows 11 versions, specifically Windows 11 24H2, please see this posts Spyshelter Classic Premium not working for Windows 11 24H2 and SpyShelter "Classic" Silent Anti KeyLogger Stopped Working After Windows 11 24H2 Update - #10 by SpyShelterCarl
I think that a warning about this incompatibility should be added on the Classic download page Classic SpyShelter Apps – SpyShelter Help
Mine it’s only a suggestion, of course

Yes, that is a good point. Another point though is that many of the features of the old software don’t exist on the new one (due to the issues with modern Windows versions), so a lot of people who use the old version only want that one.

You’re right but a notice on Classic Spyshelter download page would prevent Windows 11 24H2 users to install a software that will not work on their systems.
According to Desktop Windows Version Market Share Worldwide | Statcounter Global Stats
The Desktop Windows Version Market Share Worldwide at July 2025 is
Win11 53.39%
Win10 42.99%
Win7 2.04%
Win8 0.88%
WinXP 0.44%
Win8.1 0.23%

So many Windows users still have Windows 10 but Windows 11 users most likely have 24H2

I always help the Classic users and do something fair, otherwise I think our forum would be filled with angry people. :+1:

I’ve found most of the time they just want the old version though because it does the anti-keylogging.

Please quit diverting attention from the fact that SpyShelter reneged on the lifetime license by telling us that the license is fully functional for a version that will not work on Windows 11 and any future windows versions. SpyShelter did not keep its word and I will never use the product again.

@Sirbillak

I searched your email that you used in the forum and it looks like I responded to you and you had no problem? Can you respond again there (our helpdesk email) and let me know what’s wrong?

I think we have always helped anyone who asked with this issue, but instead you are posting over and over in different threads that we did something wrong?

I don’t get it, so you’re saying that the liftetime license for SpyShelter 12 (Windows 10), doesn’t apply to the new SpyShelter 15 that will only work on Windows 11?

Hello,
I think this is, also to judge from this post Non-working lifetime licenses , the same from the first post in this thread. Anyway it’s better to wait for a reply from SpyShelterCarl about this issue also because I haven’t found anything about old lifetime licenses validity in SpyShelter FAQ SpyShelter FAQ – SpyShelter Help although at the webpage Activating SpyShelter Pro or Ultimate – SpyShelter Help it’s written that the Classic codes are only valid for the Classic software:
If you have a SpyShelter Classic software code, that software is still available and fully functional. Please click the “Classic SpyShelter Apps” section on this help page to download those classic versions of our app so you can use your activation code there. We did not discontinue our Classic software and it still fully functions for paying customers.

Yes, that’s correct. But I have found that most people who have the Classic software require anti-keylogging so they don’t want our latest software. I have always helped people with this issue on a case by case basis, but this person never contacted me or asked for any help. Instead he made an assumption we would not help him, but I have reached out to him here and via email to help him.

I’m glad to assist this person as I have anyone else with this issue. It is not correct that we don’t help people with this issue who ask for it, but the first thing I ask them is if they need anti-keylogging which we can no longer provide with the latest software.

And just to be clear, our Classic codes do work and we still pay money to support that old infrastructure for those customers. We have NEVER disabled any Classic customer code.

After reading all the discussion threads, I’ve come to a general understanding. My key only works up to Premium version 14, not version 15. Since I don’t plan to upgrade to Windows 11, and I need the keylogger feature, version 15 might not be suitable for me for now.

@helium

You can always try the free trial of 15, but if you have a very old Windows version then our latest software may not run. Yes, this happens often where Classic users prefer to stay with that version, and of course we continue to support all these codes and they should work with no issues as usual. We have never disabled any Classic code. If anyone runs into an issue with a Classic code, just email us because it’s probably a technical problem or misunderstanding.

Thanks. I’m currently using Windows 10, and I tried version 15. It worked fine when I installed it, but when I closed the program and reopened it, it displayed “SpyShelter UI cannot be executed.” The same thing happened when I rebooted, so I switched back to version 14. I think as long as the protection is good enough, I can continue using version 14.

Ok thanks for clearing this up. And I can somewhat understand both sides, on one hand people who have bought a lifetime license may expect that it would also be applicable to SS 15, on the other hand, you guys are a new company who have developed a new product (for Windows 10/11) and you guys needs to make money.

Yes exactly. Perhaps this should be communicated on the website, because apparantly some people are not aware of this.

Yes correct, I can’t run SS 15 at all on Windows 10, I think it depends on what version you’re using of Win 10. On Windows 11 it will probably work without any problems.

But on Windows 10 you’re better off with SS 14 since it offers more protection, in terms of behavior blocking. The developers have explained that because of certain design changes in Win 11, they could not implement all protection features of SS 14 (Classic), at least not yet.

Yes. The lifetime license will not work for v15, which only works on Windows 11. Your lifetime license is lifetime no more. Apparently SpyShelter found a way to renege on their word that the license would be perpetual.

Mister,

First, you should know that the old lifetime key only works with v14 (v12.9 is the same but in the name of the signer Datpol) — not with v15.

next,

“Lifetime” does not mean you always get the same product after updates. It means the license is valid for the lifetime of the product version covered by your contract. Your original license was issued under the Polish company, not the current US owner. Under the new company, a new key is required.

The old key can still be used — for one device only — and requires internet access to validate with SpyShelter’s servers. If the same key is active on another machine, activation will be refused until that device is disconnected.

Important:

  • v14 and under, works only on Windows 10 (or with Windows 11 without TPM 2.0).
  • v15 is not signed with an EV certificate (same for v14), with windows 11 (since 22H2) because Microsoft requires (at this time) it for full compatibility with Core Isolation (even deactivated).

It’s always your responsibility to read the changelog and license terms, because there’s no guarantee that an update will keep exactly the same features — especially when the manufacturer and trademark ownership change.

Why SpyShelter doesn’t use an EV certificate

An EV (Extended Validation) code signing certificate isn’t just “a stamp of trust.”
Under Microsoft’s current rules, getting an EV certificate means submitting parts of the source code and technical reference information to them for validation, as stated in their own Code Signing Agreement.

For a security product like SpyShelter — designed to protect keystrokes and block system-level attacks — sharing even a small portion of its core code would risk weakening its security.

So the choice is simple:
Keep the code private and secure, or give Microsoft a copy and lose control.

And just to be clear… if a Classic user had an issue we always work with them on a case by case basis to make sure the customer is happy. In this case the person posts here on the forum, but for some reason they don’t respond to my email or they won’t email us so I can help them. I don’t understand why the person won’t let me help?

I also mentioned that in many cases Classic customers don’t want our latest software because they prefer the anti-keylogging feature of the old version. This is why we help on a case by case basis, because many original SpyShelter users have no interest in using their code in our new version anyway.

Also, we have never disabled any SpyShelter customer codes. If a customer has a code issue please contact us privately with the code so we can help.
