Got today updates from Microsoft Windows Defender but why it shows Unsigned ?
Sorry for the issue. If you go to the .exe itself is it signed? To do so, find the .exe in Events then click its icon, then click the hyperlink Path and SpyShelter should send you to the exact .exe. You can then right click it and check its properties and see if it’s signed.
If you go to the top right SpyShelter cog icon and click it, then click “About” what version of SpyShelter do you have?
Another comment on this… I have not seen this issue myself and our team hasn’t seen it, and I have not seen it reported yet. However, I guess it could be a SpyShelter bug, or perhaps a Microsoft mistake.
I have seen something similar with Chrome updates before on one of my PCs that made me wary… and I don’t get why only that machine would get unsigned Chrome software, but it seemed to be a legitimate Google file.
I checked and the file is not signed, I also checked yesterday’s one and it is signed. The error is on Microsoft’s side.
Wow! That’s crazy!
When I see strange unsigned issues like this I usually drop the file off with VirusTotal.com to see if anyone else is reporting it. If it looks OK with VirusTotal, then it’s probably safe.
Just one of our machines with Chrome has this issue, which is a bit suspicious… I wish Google/Microsoft wouldn’t do these things! Very frustrating, but it’s cool that it shows SpyShelter is working!
