I was browsing the MalwareTips website and someone posted a free app called AppControl. After logging in to their site to check it out, I noticed it looks very similar to SpyShelter — the only major thing it’s missing is the actual protection features. I’m all for innovation and new software development, but the visual design does look heavily inspired by your app.
Excellent, I was just concerned it might have been someone else using your hard work. I haven’t been on the forum for a while, so I would’ve completely missed it. I’ll give your new product a whirl. Thanks
We made it where both apps can worth together simultaneously, so please feel free to try AppControl. With SpyShelter it seems like there have been so many ‘security software’ scams now for Windows that this category is very difficult or impossible to be successful in, so we started to focus on resource monitoring and we are having much better luck with AppControl.
Also, Microsoft made it impossible to do real anti-keyloggers anymore in any reliable way we could find and everyone sees SpyShelter as an anti-keylogger still.
Quick question: Since it’s becoming obvious you have abandoned SpyShelter with little in terms of improvements and updates in the years I have used it as a paying customer: Will you add the good options from SS to Appcontrol for example Threat detection, & screen protection and what else is relevant in 2026?
Btw. I am writing this with my anti-keylogger literally showing me it’s encrypting what I write…sorry couldn’t resist a friendly tease
Our latest SpyShelter version is fully functional.
For AppControl, we’re not 100% sure yet what we plan to do… we’re still working on it and it’s only a few months old, but we will keep all SpyShelter users updated on any future plans.
I’ve only recently paid for my yearly SpyShelter licence, so I’d be genuinely disappointed if the product were abandoned in favour of your new observability‑focused tool, AppControl.
What happens to your loyal customers, if AppControl eventually becomes a paid product with your main development focus?
Will you honour valid SpyShelter customers licences and migrate us across as paid AppControl users, or will we be left behind?
