A couple of days ago, the running process of spyshelter was like stopped. After running the app the main page was saying “Initialization” or “Initializing” and it was staying like that for 2 hours. When I wanted to quite the app it was saying if you quite the update process my be stopped (or something similar). Ironically, today as I checked screenshot blackout by “print screen” key, as I do regularly, I just saw it doesn’t work and the whole monitor is visible after clicking on “print screen”.
Sorry for the issue. It sounds like our service stopped or crashed. If you go to the top right menu (cog icon) and choose “About”, what version of SpyShelter do you use? This information will help me solve the issue for you.
Do you use any other third party security software besides built in Windows Security/Defender?
Or, do you use any “cleaning” tools that might clean our settings/files or delete some?
If you do a full Windows Security scan, does anything appear or does it all look OK?
Services funk. My favorite. Regardless of version:
Right click the tray icon and select Exit.
In the Start menu Search programs and files type services.
Under Programs, right click services.msc and select Run as administrator.*
In the Services management console, scroll down to SpyShelter service.**
Right click on it; select Restart.**
Close the console.
Open SpySelter from the Start menu.
Everything should work OK. Otherwise write down and report any alerts, messages or failures encountered in that sequence to Carl.
*If it won’t let you run as admin, select Open.
**The Status and Startup Type should be Running and Automatic. If not, restart it anyway and see if it reverts to that. If not, note the status and type for Carl.
Thanks for your quick reply.
It’s 15.3.0.898.
Yes. I use another security and firewall application, but It never had such a problem since I use them altogether.
No. I don’t use any cleaning tools
Windows security says everything is OK.
Hey Surt,
Thanks for letting me know.
I did everything as noted and it works properly.
If stop of service happens anytime, Is there any solution to find out what has stopped the spyshelter service?
Hello, probably you can find the reason on Windows Event Viewer. For any Event Viewer log (Apps, Security etc.) you can find, on the right, a button labeled Find… So in Apps log just click on Find button and write spyshelter in search field. This will find the events related to spyshelter, including warnings or errors.
Better, you can also filter events by clicking on button “Filter current log”. As you can see from the attached screenshot (I’m Italian so the Event Viewer is in my language) after selecting Apps under Windows logs on the left you can click on button “Filter current log” on the right. After that you can flag the checkbox “Error” (or Critical or both) then on the drop down menu “Event origins” you have to scroll down and flag the checkbox for “spyshelter service” or something similar (I don’t have it as I’m not a SpyShelter user). Lastly click on “OK”, this will filter all events which provoked a error related to spyshelter service, with their time and date.
