Good point, didn’t even think of this, this will probably be a new feature on Windows 11/12 for developers, so people on Windows 10 will most likely still need to use drivers, unless Microsoft is willing to update Windows 10.

BTW, ByteJams has already developed a driverless anti-ransomware tool, see link. One of the guys who developed HitmanPro.Alert is founder of the company. It works without signatures and doesn’t depend on the cloud, pretty cool. :slight_smile:

And here is some more background info about the Windows Resiliency Initiative, it all started after the huge incident with CrowdStrike back in 2024, which was a huge blunder of course.

A security tool that runs driverless in user-mode, should not be able to cause such an incident, at least in theory. I have also had serious problems after installing/updating security tools in the past. :slight_smile:

Yes, it’s scary something like that can happen. Hopefully this driverless thing really happens, and it’s updated into as many Windows PCs as possible so developers can rewrite their software to use it.
